AIH: The Basics
Autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) is a chronic disease that causes patients’ immune systems to attack their livers and sometimes damage them. With treatment, most patients don’t need liver transplants and have normal life expectancies.

Patient Book
Sharing information about autoimmune hepatitis with a pediatric patient can be challenging. Pavani Patient Learns about Autoimmune Hepatitis is a children’s book written by the AIHA with pediatric patients in mind. The AIHA encourages you to print out this book. Your patient can express their experience with the disease by coloring the pictures Val Lawton illustrated for this book. Use the questions at the end to ensure understanding and gain information about their perspective.
